Welcome to Coloured Vision Glass.Coloured Vision has been creating commissioned glass work for thirty one years. The range of work is from leaded glass windows, or Stained Glass, to architectural fused glass panels. Also we manufacture glass tiles, sink vessel, fused glass counters, and art glass sculpture. In addition to designing and creating glass art we do restoration and general repair. Or work is in commercial/residential/and religous insttitutional settings.

Primarily this site displays a broad range of what can be done with leaded glass, or 'leadlight' as the English refer to stained glass, in a range of homes and public settings. Lately we have done more fused glass than the former due to its growing acceptance, popularity and universal appeal. On a practical level, to which one must occasionally defer, fused glass addresses most security concerns and is sometimes a superior alternative to leadlight, artistically. Fused glass architectural windows and panels, a relatively new concept in stained glass, offers some advantages not achieved with traditional leadlight. One advantage is security. These panels are about one inch thick, bullet proof, and behave similarly to tempered glass. Having no lead came,(we use zinc in stained glass windows) which visually wraps each individual piece of glass throughout leadlight panels, allows in fused panels a greater freedom in artistic design, and of course allows more light transmission yet has greater 'R' values for insulation to temperature extremes. There are few knowledgeable in this highly technical art form, and fewer with the experience needed to successfully fuse various layered colours of glass with; metals such as copper, gold, silver; minerals in powdered form, and not develop serious incompatibility problems. This tension, a manisfitation of inadequate technical procedures translates to inexplicable stress cracks months later or more likely catastrophic failures in the kiln during annealing and cooling cycles. The chemistry of glass and it's physical properties must be a thouroughly acquired knowledge to decipher these events and produce consistant successful results. Now, after many years of carefully documented experimentation we are able to push the physical limits of fused glass with startling consistant perfection.

Coloured Vision Architectural leaded stained fused glass, has been creating commissioned glass work for thirty one years. Every image on this site of our efforts was designed and fabricated by either Karen or Paul., or both. Restoration has also been an important component of our work. Our work is as far away as Australia. We continue to develop new original products in an art form centuries old. When --creating an entryway the custom door design is sometimes supplied by the Architect and the design of the glass by Coloured Vision. The glass will reflect elements of the Architects design concepts. Coloured Vision also designs both the door plan and glass design. The later being our preference as a more cohesive overall entry unit will result. Most of the images above are designed in total by ColouredVision. Our experience has shown steel to be contemporary compliment to leaded glass. Oak doors usually beckon traditional leaded beveled glass design. Painted doors also ellicit a more contempory approach, but there have been exceptions to this with perfect harmony..
